A recent survey shows that many Americans still have limited exposure to investments and financial products.

According to a May 13, 2026 report by Statista, based on survey data collected between April 2025 and March 2026:

-29 percent of Americans own equity investments such as stocks or ETFs
-32 percent said they do not own any financial products or investments
-20 percent reported having loans
-19 percent said they have mortgages
-18 percent own cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin
-13 percent reported owning real estate investments
-10 percent invest in precious metals

The data highlights how Americans approach wealth building and financial planning differently, with traditional investments like stocks remaining more common than cryptocurrency, real estate investments, or precious metals.
